IndyCar's Santino Ferrucci Literally 'Up in Air' Over Grand Prix of Arlington
NTT IndyCar Series driver Santino Ferrucci, a Dallas resident, got a bird's eye view of where he'll be racing next month when he climbed into a cherry-picker at Globe Life Field to help install promotional graphics for the inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington.
The A.J. Foyt Racing driver, who pilots the patriotic-themed No. 14 Homes For Our Troops Dallara Chevy, admitted the heights were "a little interesting" but said he's not afraid—just "not particularly fond of them."
Ferrucci recalled a similar bout of enthusiasm during his 2018 rookie season, when he drove around the Belle Isle course in Detroit before it was fully built. "I didn't know any better. So apparently it's frowned upon," he said.
The Java House Grand Prix of Arlington is scheduled for March 13-15, 2026. The 2.73-mile circuit will wind through Arlington's Entertainment District, with AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, and Choctaw Stadium serving as the backdrop. The event is a joint venture among Penske Entertainment, the Dallas Cowboys, and REV Entertainment, the official events partner of the Texas Rangers.
Ferrucci called the course "phenomenal" and expressed excitement about the four new tracks on the 2026 IndyCar calendar, three of which are brand-new street courses. He noted the schedule changes should inject extra excitement into the series and elevate fan engagement, especially with the new FOX Sports broadcast partnership.
"We needed to be racing in Texas. Now we are," Ferrucci said, adding that the DC race offers major media visibility for sponsors like Homes For Our Troops.
Ferrucci also expressed confidence in his team's trajectory heading into the season. After a 2025 campaign that included multiple top-five finishes and a runner-up result at Detroit, he said the pieces are falling into place at A.J. Foyt Racing.
"I think people should be nervous once we get our consistency going, because we'll be competitive," Ferrucci said.
The race will air live on FOX.
