Meet Rick Ruelas: A Higher Standard at Texas First Rentals Weslaco

Rental Coordinator Rick Ruelas leads with respect, safety, and follow-through — on the job and at home.

Rick Ruelas has been keeping the Weslaco branch running as a Rental Coordinator, and if you ask him what matters most on the job, he won't hesitate: treat people right and get the order done.

Rick leads with Values Based Leadership every day, starting with respect. Whether it's a customer walking in with a tight deadline or a coworker who needs a hand, Rick keeps the same values in mind — treat people well, keep everyone safe, and get it done.

He holds himself to a simple standard: every order that comes through should get completed, and if something truly can't be done, he'll find a way to accommodate the customer instead. It's a small rule that adds up to a big difference for the people he works with.

"The values to me mean to hold ourselves to a higher standard," Rick says.

Outside of work, that same mindset carries over into Rick's family life. He and his wife of 11 years have two kids — a 9-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter — and the four of them are almost always doing something outdoors together. Wiffle ball is a regular event at the Ruelas house, and it comes with plenty of friendly competition.

When they're not in the backyard, you might catch them cruising around town in Rick's father-in-law's 1964 Corvair, or out fishing. Baseball runs deep in this family, too — Rick and his crew are Astros fans through and through, and they were lucky enough to be in the stands for Game 6 of the 2022 World Series when the Astros brought home the title. Thanks for everything you do for the Weslaco team, Rick.
